Kirkwood Community College - Customer Case Study

Kirkwood Community College, a multi‑campus community college in Iowa, faced the challenge of delivering surgical technician courses and assessments to remote campuses over a statewide fiber‑optic network. Faculty at the main campus authored web‑based quizzes and tests, but initial offerings revealed security and standardization problems in administering assessments across sites. To deliver identical, controlled assessments to all students the college used Questionmark for test authoring and delivery.

Questionmark enabled main‑campus faculty to centralize creation and control of all quizzes and tests so every student received the same content. To standardize administration and tighten security, faculty enabled Questionmark’s proctor password feature, required use of the Questionmark Secure Browser, randomized question delivery, and implemented written proctor procedures at remote sites. These measures ensured standardized test delivery across campuses, prevented students from launching unsupervised tests, and greatly reduced opportunities to share question content, allowing the distance surgical technician program to operate successfully.
