Distance learning and testing at Fox Valley Technical College

Fox Valley Technical College, a two-campus Wisconsin technical college serving about 55,000 students annually (7,100 in degree programs), needed a more secure and flexible way to deliver tests to students across districts. Their previous machine-specific testing program and course-management test add-on were inflexible and allowed easy cheating, so the college adopted Questionmark—including Questionmark Secure and its intuitive authoring manager—to support secure, distributed online assessment.

Questionmark’s solution enables instructors to author, schedule and deliver exams online or at local testing centers, and about 20 faculty currently use the system. Fox Valley reports reduced opportunities for cheating, easier remote test delivery, and better decision-making through Questionmark’s item-analysis and coaching reports; the research department also moved surveys from manual processes to Questionmark’s survey tools, producing readable reports and saving labor. The college plans to integrate Questionmark with Blackboard to migrate grades, and staff say Questionmark has performed very well over the past 18 months.
