Covidien Delivers Product Knowledge Tests and Observational Assessments on the Apple iPad

Covidien needed a way to ensure its Neurovascular and Peripheral Vascular sales force understood product features, could demonstrate device use to clinicians, and be certified to meet FDA and other requirements while replacing fragmented LMS, paper and fax processes. To address this, Covidien adopted Questionmark OnDemand hosting services to deliver product-knowledge tests and observational assessments on Apple iPad devices.

Questionmark provided a hosted, SSAE 16–audited assessment platform accessible on iPads, supporting 10–30 minute e‑learning modules with Questionmark tests (including item banks and many question types), 3‑point observational checklists for certification, centralized reporting (Transcript, Score List, Coaching Reports) and delegated admin rights. The change eliminated paper/fax workflows and much IT overhead, delivered immediate scoring and centralized visibility, enabled remote certification and tracking, and set a 90% pass threshold — producing measurable time, cost and compliance improvements for Covidien.
