Conserving Classroom Time with Computerized Assessments

Tyler Junior College (TJC) was struggling with cumbersome paper-based testing for distance-learning students and the need for secure, high‑stakes exams on campus. To enable remote and more flexible assessment delivery, TJC adopted Questionmark’s computerized assessment software and began using it both for distance learners and in a campus testing center.

Questionmark delivered a secure, WebCT‑integrated testing solution supported by a 29‑station testing center with four full‑time and six part‑time staff. The change freed up class time (e.g., five in‑class tests a semester become five class days back), expanded question types (multiple response, drag‑and‑drop, short answer, Flash interactions), provided instant feedback and detailed statistics, and enabled automatic score posting to WebCT—improving learning, remediation and faculty efficiency.
