A Quest Case Study
The City of Rochester, Minnesota (a local government with under 1,200 employees) faced a major IT challenge: a very small tech team—initially a single engineer—needed to upgrade a Microsoft software package across 300+ computers and later quickly provision and maintain devices as employees shifted to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city deployed the KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA) and later the KACE Systems Deployment Appliance (SDA) to automate software distributions, uninstalls, imaging, inventory, patching and remote maintenance. What would have taken about six weeks manually was completed in under a week, enabling fast remote provisioning, better device tracking and ongoing time savings—tools the IT team calls “lifesavers” as they expand and modernize their use.
