A Quest Case Study
Banco BISA, Bolivia’s third-largest bank with about 2,000 employees, faced growing risk from ransomware, stricter data‑retention requirements and slow, costly tape-based backups. The bank needed a more agile, scalable solution to protect roughly 900 TB of mainframe, UNIX and x86 data, speed restorations and reduce the complexity and expense of managing legacy tape drives and off‑site storage.
Banco BISA replaced its tape system with Quest QoreStor, deploying it on four x86 servers in active/active pairs across two sites in 13 weeks and integrating it with Veeam (with double encryption). The change cut restore times from hours to minutes (more than 4x faster per 1 TB), tripled the number of systems backed up daily, eliminated tape‑related risks and reduced costs and operational complexity.
