Precisely Software & Data’s Product IT team faced an end-of-life decision for legacy disaster-recovery appliances that backed VM and build-artifact data across multiple data centers. They needed an offsite/cloud-capable backup strategy to reduce risk from ransomware, modernize their backup targets, and avoid large new storage purchases.

They migrated five backup targets from the old appliances to Quest QoreStor (used with NetVault), enabling cloud tiering and replication while using source-side deduplication and compression. The change extended existing capacity (storing ~100 TB in about 20 TB), cut backup storage by up to 75–85%, and shortened long jobs from 52 hours to 19 hours, all without buying new primary storage.
