A Quest Case Study
Seminole County Public Schools, a Florida district serving 66,000 students and 8,000 staff, needed to enable a digital curriculum while efficiently managing 30,000 desktops and laptops, enforcing content filtering and staying within a tight budget. Existing tools left gaps in inventory, patch management, imaging and helpdesk functions, creating security and operational headaches for IT.
The district deployed Dell KACE K1000/K2000 appliances for endpoint management and SonicWall SuperMassive 9600 firewalls for security and web filtering, consolidating multiple systems into simpler appliances. The solution streamlined imaging, patching and service-desk workflows, delivered 99.9% uptime with an HA firewall cluster, improved threat protection and reduced space and power needs — saving more than $180,000 (about $100,000 from KACE consolidation and $80,000 in 18 months on firewall OPEX).
