Professional services provider acquires just part of another company

A large UK professional services firm (77,500 employees) acquired only the facilities-management portion of a much bigger company, forcing a selective IT integration across a complex hybrid environment. With limited visibility into the source systems—multiple data centers, legacy SharePoint versions, mixed on-premises and cloud workloads—and uncertainty about what data to keep, the IT team faced a high-risk, large-scale migration unlike any prior M&A it had done.

Working with Quest and its migration portfolio (On Demand Migration, Metalogix, Quadrotech, etc.) and flexible professional services and licensing, the team selectively migrated seven on‑premises and two online environments, moved more than 8,000 mailboxes, hundreds of SharePoint sites and terabytes of data, and aligned cutover with payroll and TSAs. The project finished on time and on budget, delivered a clean separation from the seller, and earned senior-management praise and internal promotions.
