Merged Health Systems Unify Active Directory Environments

Two nonprofit health systems merged to form a single organization serving 1.5 million residents across the Northeast, with seven hospitals, 2,600 physicians and 18,500 employees. They needed to operate as one team on Day One of the merger while meeting strict healthcare regulatory and security requirements, consolidating multiple Active Directory, Exchange and Office 365 environments, and implementing a new red‑forest/Enhanced Security Administrative Environment without disrupting patient care.

Binary Tree by Quest led workshops and a proof‑of‑concept to enable Day One collaboration—providing a single address book and cross‑organization free/busy scheduling—then designed and deployed a secure, unified Active Directory and single Office 365 tenant. The migration delivered a seamless Day One experience, improved staff collaboration and administrative security, and generated strong organizational enthusiasm for the newly integrated health system.
