Managed service provider protects data with Quest® NetVault® Plus and develops new business opportunities

Barking Dog Communications is an Albuquerque-based MSP serving small-to-medium professional businesses (CPAs, medical and legal offices) and managing about 700 desktops across roughly 100 customers. Operating in a region with frequent power outages, poor bandwidth and property crime, the company needed a robust, standardized approach to backup, disaster recovery and long-term archival storage after one-off, shared-storage plans proved hard to manage and unprofitable.

Barking Dog deployed Quest NetVault Plus — a cloud-ready solution with deduplication, compression, replication and multi-tenancy — and standardized a four-copy protection model (local server, real-time replicated BDR VM, daily onsite backup and off-site air-gapped replication). The change cut backup maintenance overhead by half, enabled reliable archival and recovery despite bandwidth and weather challenges, improved automation, allowed accurate per-customer billing and drove a 30% increase in revenue from data protection.
