Holcim’s EMEA Digital Center — formed after the merger of Lafarge and Holcim and supporting about 40,000 employees in the region — faced a complex and risky identity landscape: 31 separate Active Directory domains across multiple countries. The fragmented AD environment increased security exposure and operational complexity, so Holcim needed a reliable way to consolidate identities without disrupting users.

Holcim selected Quest AD migration solutions to merge all 31 domains into a single, centrally managed AD for EMEA, training local IT teams and using a central tool-management process to schedule migrations. The project completed with no downtime and only a user-initiated restart, delivering a unified directory, stronger security (reduced attack surface and single sign-on), improved control and a repeatable migration playbook for future use.
