CACI Netherlands, a leading education-software provider supporting 24 higher-education institutions and about 250,000 students with its Osiris product, was struggling with rapid data growth and insufficient backup windows. Using Symantec Backup Exec, some overnight backups ran longer than 24–36 hours, forcing the IT team to risk leaving data unprotected and jeopardizing programming, testing and production continuity.

CACI deployed Quest NetVault Backup with DR4100 disk backup appliances and built‑in deduplication, enabling weekly full and nightly incremental backups with automatic replication between sites. The new solution sped full-server backups by 61% (e.g., 36→14 hours), made file restores up to 96× faster (from ~4 hours to ~30 seconds), and reduced the storage footprint by 93% (226TB deduplicated to 14.7TB), while lowering costs and ensuring continuous data availability.
