Ensighten Building A World-Class Digital Advertising Analytics Platform Using Qubole

Ensighten, creator of the Ensighten Marketing Data Platform, helps enterprise marketing teams manage tags, unify customer data, deliver analytics and maintain data privacy across web and advertising ecosystems. As the company grew, its Hadoop-based reporting became brittle and development-intensive—report requests took weeks or months, required heavy custom work, and pulled engineers away from core product improvements.

To fix this, Ensighten rebuilt on AWS using S3 and Kafka and adopted Qubole, which let them decouple compute from storage, publish schema-backed tables that are queryable in minutes, and manage role-based access across Spark, Hadoop and Presto. The result: much faster custom reporting and log diagnostics on 1–2 TB/day, reduced operational overhead and custom development, and renewed focus on enhancing their core offerings.
