Making Learning Fun, Easy, and Interactive with Quarkxpress

The Salvation Army’s UK Schools and Colleges Unit needed to modernize its curriculum-based lesson plans, leaflets and school-visit resources but faced tight budgets, limited in-house design skills and time constraints. Outsourcing proved unaffordable, and existing Word-based materials weren’t suitable for engaging young audiences for the “Ultimate Church Visit.”

Using a trial of QuarkXPress 8, the team produced a 50‑page interactive CD‑ROM and rebranded print and digital materials in-house—adding menus, animations and links to PDFs and PowerPoints without coding. The project saved significant costs, is now used by 100+ Salvation Army churches across the UK, and gave the department greater control and capability for future interactive resources.
