Famous Footwear Leverages Quantum Retail’s Allocation And Replenishment To Reach Higher Sales And Service

Brown Shoe Company, parent of Famous Footwear and several other consumer brands, faced the challenge of getting the right shoes to the right stores and channels while improving store-level service, balancing inventory across locations, respecting in-store space constraints, and managing seasonal shifts. After finding their legacy allocation and planning tools insufficient, Brown Shoe Company selected Quantum Retail in 2012/2013 to provide expanded analytics and Allocation and Replenishment capabilities (the Q solution).

Quantum Retail deployed its Q Allocation and Replenishment system to recommend optimal inventory levels for every product at every store and to dynamically direct inventory flows. The solution produced a consistent 4% improvement in service levels with only slightly higher inventory, drove higher full‑price sales, made peak seasons like Back-to-School more manageable, and improved store-level demand predictability and inventory balance.
