Canadian Tire, a major Canadian retail company with more than 1,700 locations and a large omnichannel business through Sport Chek, wanted better visibility into customer behavior and site issues. Working with Quantum Metric and Google Cloud Platform, the team used Quantum Metric alongside Google BigQuery to understand why a segment of price-sensitive “bargain hunters” was abandoning carts after encountering invalid or expired coupon codes.
Quantum Metric helped Canadian Tire identify that many of these customers were using old coupon codes found on external sites and that more than 70% left the site after seeing an error message. By reactivating high-use coupon codes on non-sale days, Canadian Tire increased conversion among price-sensitive customers by as much as 40%, while also improving customer satisfaction, reducing older inventory, and gaining real-time insight into digital operations and omnichannel journeys.
