WorkForce Software, a global provider of cloud-based workforce management, faced exploding data growth and strict regional, retention and security requirements that outpaced its decentralized tape-based backup processes. Multiple tape libraries and disparate tools across regions caused overlapping, multi-day backup windows, slow restores (often a day or more), and heavy administrative overhead, forcing the company to rethink its backup and DR strategy.

WorkForce consolidated to Quantum DXi deduplication appliances (DXi6900/DXi4700) with NetBackup OST, deployed two DXi units per region, eliminated routine tape at edge sites, and enabled encrypted, automated replication between regions. The result: backups completed in roughly half the time (from ~30 to ~14 hours) with off-site DR included, instantaneous restores via native NFS copies, reduced admin and WAN impact thanks to dedupe, and a scalable, capacity-on-demand solution delivered at about half the cost of competing options.
