Poland’s Kredyt Bank Consolidates on Scalar Tape Libraries to Keep Data Safe

Kredyt Bank, one of Poland’s top 10 banks, faced rapidly growing data volumes from new accounts and expanded electronic services while also needing to meet stricter government retention and security regulations. Its backup environment had become fragmented—local tape drives and small libraries at branch offices—creating manual processes, retrieval challenges and increased risk of data-loss or noncompliance.

The bank consolidated and automated backup and archiving with two Quantum Scalar i6000 tape libraries (700 slots, six LTO‑4 drives) integrated with EMC Networker. This centralized solution eliminated human error, simplified administration, ensured regulatory compliance and provided scalable, reliable data recovery—enabling long-term retention and easier future upgrades (e.g., LTO‑5).
