A Quantum Corporation Case Study
MetroEast Community Media, a Gresham, Oregon nonprofit operating since 1984 that supports eight public-access channels, faced the challenge of helping a wide range of community creators—many with little digital experience—produce, broadcast and protect content. Their old workflow relied on removable drives that were lost or damaged, lacked shared high-performance storage for synchronized multi-clip and 4K editing, and needed an Apple-compatible, scalable solution that fit the budget.
MetroEast implemented a Quantum StorNext environment (M440 metadata appliance, QXS-1200 disk with an added 290 TB, and AEL500 archive) over Fibre Channel with RAID redundancy and automated migration/archiving. The deployment delivered fast shared access across six edit bays, higher performance for demanding edits, lower operating costs (power/cooling), clearer pricing and seamless upgrades, plus automated long-term protection that freed active disk capacity and reduced manual backups.
