Leading Music Enthusiast Content Publisher Doubles Video Output with StorNext

NewBay Media, a leading publisher of music enthusiast content with more than 13 million monthly readers across print and digital channels, faced a critical production bottleneck: an aging Apple Xsan SAN inherited through an acquisition that frequently ran out of space, produced errors and corruption, and couldn’t keep up with ingest, editing and transcoding demands—threatening video output and related revenue.

The company installed Quantum’s StorNext Pro Foundation (StorNext 5 with QXS-1200 RAID, 48TB raw), integrated by Reboot, and upgraded workstations and OS X to provide turnkey, low‑admin Fibre Channel access for four Mac Pros and full compatibility with Final Cut Pro, Adobe and other apps. The result: workflow performance and capacity doubled—more than 200 lessons/demos/interviews and about a dozen DVDs produced in 2015, generating nearly $200K in direct revenue, with roughly half of that output unlikely without StorNext.
