Franklin Pierce University, a small private school with a lean IT team, faced failing legacy backup infrastructure that required hours of manual tape handling and left little window for timely backups. With multiple campuses, dozens of servers and a tight budget, the university needed a reliable, future-proof solution that would improve capacity, performance and restore times without expanding staff or costs.

The IT team deployed two Quantum DXi4000 deduplication appliances, a Quantum Scalar i40 tape library and Symantec Backup Exec, which doubled backup performance and cut backup windows by half.
