Celero, a Canadian IT services provider for financial institutions, needed to consolidate disparate backup systems inherited from its founding cooperatives across four data centers and reduce the high costs and complexity of tape-based backup and disaster recovery while supporting rapid data growth.

Celero deployed Quantum DXi deduplication appliances (including DXi8500 and DXi6702 units) and Vision reporting, using a mix of VTL and NAS targets with replication. The solution delivered ~7x faster backups, near‑instant replication, reduced storage needs through deduplication, centralized management, and about $200,000 annual savings in tape handling; restores that once took seven hours now complete in about one hour.
