Crown Media Family Networks, the company behind Hallmark Channel and a growing slate of original TV movies and series, faced rapidly increasing content production (from 29 movies in 2013 to 56 in 2015 and 78 planned in 2016) that overwhelmed its 160TB RAID and tape-based workflow. The storage-heavy ingest, editing and archiving process was slow, hard to manage, and insufficiently protected, threatening the company’s ability to repurpose and distribute assets quickly.

Crown Media deployed Quantum StorNext 5 with Lattus object storage (initially 500TB across Los Angeles and Denver with a third controller in New York) integrated with Reach Engine and Telestream Vantage, implemented by IMT. The new solution provides scalable, multi-site replicated archive with disk-speed retrieval, eliminates separate backups through automatic replication and site-loss protection, simplifies management, and enabled much faster access and easier scaling — allowing Crown Media to improve workflow efficiency and continue expanding its content slate.
