Alberta-based BlackBridge Networks, a global leader in geospatial imagery that operates its own satellite constellation and manages multi-petabyte archives, needed a way to offer managed backup, retention and disaster-recovery services while meeting stringent requirements—some customers (including the Canadian government) require data to be retained indefinitely—and without prohibitive bandwidth or capital costs.

BlackBridge partnered with Quantum to launch BlackBridge Stratus, using Quantum DXi deduplication and replication to reduce data volumes (up to ~20x), replicate encrypted data to Tier‑III Canadian data centers, and provide disk-based, subscription-style backup and rapid recovery. The result is a practical, scalable offsite backup and DR service that lowers bandwidth and storage costs, speeds recovery, and positions BlackBridge to expand into large-scale object archives as needs grow.
