RAG Uses Quantrix Modeler for Project Economics, Portfolio Analysis and Business Planning

RAG (Rohöl-Aufsuchungs Aktiengesellschaft), an Austria-based oil and gas exploration, production and storage company operating across Europe, found its spreadsheet-based systems could no longer handle the complexity of project economics, contractual terms and integrated portfolio planning. To move beyond large, hard-to-audit, non-integrated spreadsheets and enable flexible what-if scenario analysis for non-standard projects, RAG adopted Quantrix Modeler from Quantrix.

Quantrix implemented an integrated solution that links Project Economics, E&P Portfolio and E&P Business Plan models (using DataLink), separates input and calculation matrices for fast updates, and supports multiple scenarios — including three price paths and three participation cases — as well as complex contract and profit‑sharing modeling. The Quantrix deployment delivered faster scenario creation, clearer portfolio economics, improved confidence in decision-making, and the ability to quantify project risk and measure each project’s impact on the business plan.
