Media Measure needed a cost-effective, agile media ad compliance analysis platform to match advertised spots against what was actually played by broadcasting stations across Africa. The challenge involved processing 5,000+ hours of audio daily, handling multiple languages, and dealing with noisy station recordings that differed significantly from the cleaner advertisement audio. Quantiphi helped address this with an audio content matching solution built on AWS services.

Quantiphi implemented an audio fingerprinting approach using techniques like fast Fourier transform and cloud tools such as Amazon EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk, and CloudWatch to compare advertisement audio with station recordings. The solution achieved close to 99% matching accuracy for spotting aired ads and delivered nearly a 10x reduction in cost compared with Media Measure’s previous system, while improving campaign tracking and scalability.
