Case Study: HSBC fights financial crime with Quantexa’s Global Social Network Analytics platform

A Quantexa Case Study

Preview of the HSBC Case Study

How our entity resolution and network analytics technology helped HSBC to tackle financial crime

HSBC, one of the world’s largest banking groups, needed a better way to detect and investigate financial crime across its global footprint. With operations in 66 countries and more than 39 million customers, the bank faced the challenge of centralizing siloed data and improving its ability to identify illicit activity across jurisdictions. To address this, HSBC worked with Quantexa and deployed a Global Social Network Analytics (GSNA) platform for contextual analysis, entity resolution, and link analysis.

Quantexa’s GSNA solution gave HSBC investigators a single, scalable platform to combine internal and external data, build customer networks, and spot suspicious patterns more quickly. The result was improved investigation quality and speed, with many cases reduced from days to hours, plus efficiency gains from replacing legacy tools and reducing data copying across the enterprise. HSBC also reported better confidence in customer risk profiles and stronger cross-border financial crime detection.
