Kobo, a digital eReading service, faced stiff competition from other eReaders and tablet devices and wanted to expand reach earlier in the customer journey. Working with agency Cossette and Quantcast, they aimed to improve prospecting and retargeting to identify consumers in the early research phase and generate positive brand perception.
Using Quantcast’s Search Powered Audiences, Kobo ran competitive and category conquesting—identifying users searching for Kobo and its competitors, plus broader tablet/eReader interest—and combined this with prospecting and retargeting. The campaign reached 95% new audiences, drove a 10% increase in eBook downloads, and made Quantcast a top performer on the media plan.
