RTL Nederland Strengthens Defences Against Hackers and Disruption

RTL Nederland, one of the Netherlands’ leading media and entertainment companies with over 800 staff and services like RTL XL and Buienradar, needed to move quickly to publish content while keeping systems and customer data secure. Despite multiple protective layers, the company lacked an enterprise-class way to discover and manage vulnerabilities across its infrastructure, leaving IT assets exposed and security teams without a clear, structured view of threats.

RTL deployed QualysGuard Vulnerability Management and Web Application Scanning to discover and map assets, run weekly scans (about 150 servers), and produce technical and executive reports with prioritized remediation steps and patch links. The result was faster, more targeted remediation, reduced reliance on costly third‑party penetration tests, better protection for web applications and customer data, and plans to extend coverage with Qualys malware detection.
