Kcell Makes the Right Call on Information Security

Kcell, a leading Kazakhstan mobile operator and part of TeliaCompany, provides nationwide voice and data services and serves consumers and businesses under the activ and Kcell brands. With its information security team still maturing, Kcell relied on a mix of heterogeneous tools that made vulnerability scanning, prioritization and remediation slow and inconsistent, leaving the company exposed and struggling to protect customer data and ensure always‑available services.

Kcell consolidated its security stack on the Qualys Cloud Platform—deploying Vulnerability Management, Web Application Scanning, Continuous Monitoring, Malware Detection, Policy and PCI Compliance—to scan ~2,200 IPs and hundreds of servers and monitor critical external assets. The unified approach delivered full visibility, standardized controls and far faster remediation, increasing critical vulnerability fixes from about 10% to roughly 90%, improving service reliability and enabling Kcell to offer managed Qualys services to customers.
