Humane Society Streamlines PCI Compliance Efforts

The Humane Society of the United States, the nation’s largest animal protection organization with over 10 million supporters, needed to ensure secure online donations while meeting Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements. Although it already followed strong security practices, the organization lacked a streamlined, cost-effective way to run quarterly vulnerability scans, complete PCI self-assessments, and submit reports to acquiring banks, relying instead on an expensive third-party consultant.

The Humane Society adopted QualysGuard PCI, an on-demand, PCI-approved scanning and reporting solution that automates scheduled scans, guides completion of the annual self-assessment questionnaire, and submits results to banks. The change cut time and cost, enabled the internal IT team to run compliant scans themselves, and sped notification and report access for acquiring banks, simplifying ongoing PCI compliance.
