Health Data Insights Enhances Regulatory and Policy Compliance

Health Data Insights (HDI) is a U.S. leader in health care claims integrity that vets roughly $200 billion in paid claims each year. With a lean security team of three, HDI needed to secure dozens of web applications and about 300 production servers while meeting strict regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CMS, SSAE/SOC 1). Their challenge was implementing an affordable, centrally managed vulnerability management program that produced accurate, auditor-friendly reports and could keep pace with frequent application and infrastructure changes.

HDI chose the Qualys Cloud Platform and extended it with Qualys Web Application Scanning (WAS). The cloud-based service required no on‑premise hardware, provided continuous discovery and accurate external scans, and delivered clear, scalable reports for auditors. HDI quickly identified and remediated perimeter flaws, improved ongoing app security by embedding WAS into developer QA, and strengthened its preparedness for SSAE/SOC 1 and other compliance assessments.
