HBOR Improves Security Posture through Comprehensive Vulnerability Management

HBOR (Hrvatska banka za obnovu i razvitak) is Croatia’s national development and export bank with about 350 employees. The bank faced a large, heterogeneous IT environment—100+ virtual servers, many endpoints and multiple platforms—and a small information‑security team that lacked centralized visibility, timely patching and an efficient way to meet internal and external compliance requirements.

Working with Alfatec, HBOR deployed the Qualys Cloud Platform (VM, PC and WAS) to run weekly scans of roughly 1,000 resources, prioritize remediation, remove unnecessary software (e.g., Java via SCCM), and benchmark configurations against hundreds of policies and controls. The result was faster, more focused patching, reduced administrative workload, stronger audit and compliance visibility, integration with a new SIEM, and a markedly improved security posture—security incidents fell to under 1% of their previous level.
