Case Study: City of Miami Beach achieves automated PCI DSS compliance and continuous risk management with Qualys

A Qualys Case Study

Preview of the Miami Beach Case Study

Automating Security and IT Risk Management

The City of Miami Beach, FL — a municipal government supporting about 89,000 residents across 7.1 square miles — needed to streamline PCI DSS compliance and secure roughly 5,000 IP-addressed endpoints, servers and applications while working with constrained IT budgets and limited staff. The challenge was to automate vulnerability management, network discovery and regulatory assessments so the small IT team could reliably identify and remediate risks without expanding headcount.

The city deployed QualysGuard Vulnerability Management (VM) and Web Application Scanning (WAS) via the Qualys Cloud Platform, benefiting from SaaS delivery, easy deployment, continuous automated scans, and an extensive, regularly updated vulnerability KnowledgeBase. As a result Miami Beach largely eliminated reliance on third-party assessments, cut the time to find and fix exposures, maintains PCI DSS compliance between quarterly audits, and can proactively remediate network and web-application flaws while the IT team focuses on other priorities.
