Okinawa Open Laboratory Enables SDN and Cloud DevOps with CloudShell

Okinawa Open Laboratory (OOL), founded by NTT Communications, NEC, and IIGA with support from the Okinawa Prefectural Government, needed a collaboration-friendly way for remote R&D teams to access its cloud and SDN test bed. The organization was looking for a DevOps-style self-service orchestration platform that could handle diverse infrastructure, support dynamic sandboxes, and keep pace with evolving APIs and technologies. OOL chose Quali’s CloudShell to meet these requirements.

With Quali’s CloudShell, OOL gained a flexible infrastructure orchestration and self-service portal for provisioning, reserving, snapshotting, and reclaiming mixed physical, virtual, and cloud resources. OOL also used CloudShell’s automation authoring tools to integrate its own components, including OpenFlow-Patch and tenant management. The result was faster deployment of SDN and cloud DevOps sandboxes, improved resource utilization, and the ability for members to rapidly develop, test, and validate new cloud and network ideas without building and maintaining their own orchestration platform.
