Hitachi Data Systems Chooses CloudShell for Lab Management
Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) needed a new lab management solution after Gale Technologies stopped supporting Lab Manager, creating an urgent business continuity challenge for its large R&D and test lab. HDS supports more than 100 global users and runs complex, long-duration tests on topologies of over 100 devices, so it required a platform that could handle large reservations, multiple L1 switch manufacturers, API-driven automation, and high availability. Quali’s CloudShell was selected after an extensive evaluation.
Quali implemented CloudShell to migrate live reservations and L1 switch mappings with minimal disruption, supported by sandbox testing, training, and database preparation. After the migration was completed successfully, HDS continued existing tests and moved all new reservations into CloudShell. The result was reliable automated L1 connectivity across multiple switch vendors, systematic tracking of manual connections, and support for 70–100 concurrent reservations on average, with large setups reaching about 100 connections.
