Qualcomm Wireless Reach partnered with Qualcomm Life, Inc. to address high rates of pediatric asthma—a condition that drives ER visits, hospitalizations and significant healthcare costs. Working with Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, the customer sought a way to make asthma therapy more effective by capturing real-world inhaler use and physiologic data to prevent serious attacks in children.

Qualcomm Life, Inc. deployed a 3G-enabled 2net™ Platform solution and a 2net-enabled monitoring kit (using devices from ecosystem partners such as Propeller Health and Zephyr) to automatically record inhaler use and correlate it with biometric data; the research program is currently enrolling patients. Qualcomm Life, Inc.’s solution provides richer patient context, enables proactive interventions and reliable data for care decisions, with the goal of reducing asthma attacks, ER visits, hospitalizations and associated costs.
