Memorial Healthcare System needed a scalable, enterprise-wide device integration solution when it upgraded its Epic EMR in 2012 and sought to automate capture of complex anesthesia, physiologic and mobile spot-check data across six hospitals. To meet demanding requirements like Epic OpTime integration in the OR and expanded parameter capture in high- and low-acuity areas, Memorial selected the Capsule Medical Device Information System (MDIS) from Qualcomm Life, Inc.

Qualcomm Life, Inc. deployed Capsule solutions—including Vitals Stream™ on more than 250 Capsule Neurons in ICUs and mobile settings and Capsule Chart Xpress™ on over 500 Neurons in medical-surgical units—integrating anesthesia cart data to Epic OpTime and streaming bedside vitals to the Epic EMR. The rollout delivered near–real-time device data, strong clinician adoption (“I can’t do my job without it”), and enabled initiatives like early warning scoring, demonstrating measurable enterprise-wide impact on data capture and clinical workflows.
