A Qualaroo Case Study
The University of Alberta, a Canadian university with a busy daily news section, struggled to turn its high traffic into email newsletter subscribers. Despite close to 50,000 unique page views per month and existing calls to action on story pages, the site had fewer than 500 subscribers after a year. Qualaroo was brought in to help increase engagement with readers who were already consuming the news content.
Qualaroo implemented a Qualaroo Nudge™ that appeared after visitors spent more than 10 seconds on a story page, prompting them to sign up for the newsletter. The result was a major lift in performance: subscriptions grew from 1–2 per day to as many as 10–15, the signup rate rose to 20%, and the subscriber list increased by almost 500% within a year.
