Atlantic Health System Entrusts Patient Identity Leader for MPI Cleanup Before Massive Epic Rollout

Atlantic Health System, a network of five medical centers, physician practices and a home health agency, needed an accurate master patient index before a large Epic® EHR conversion and was required to reach a 96% “clean rate” by the start of integrated testing in under a year. Atlantic Health System engaged QuadraMed to clean up duplicate records across six source EHRs and provide ongoing duplicate maintenance and staffing support during the phased Epic rollout.

QuadraMed ran a SmartScan™ patient ID analysis using a probabilistic matching algorithm and executed a three‑phase cleanup (primary cleanup, mini projects, and ongoing staff augmentation), removing more than 495,000 duplicate records across six systems. QuadraMed reduced the duplication rate from 23% to less than 4% (a drop of more than 19%), meeting the Epic requirement for go‑live and maintaining low duplication rates throughout the deployment.
