How Nusii was saved from the abyss of EU VAT

Nusii, a Madrid-based SaaS that helps creative agencies streamline sales proposals, grew from a side project into a paid service used in over 60 countries. As international customers increased, co‑founders Nathan Powell and Michael faced the complexity of EU VAT (VAT MOSS) and the need to collect customer location/IP/business-residence data — a tax and invoicing problem they didn’t want to build in-house — so they turned to Quaderno (including Quaderno Checkout).

Quaderno was integrated with Nusii’s Stripe billing to convert receipts into full business invoices and calculate taxes on-the-fly. The Quaderno solution automatically saves customer data, applies the correct VAT to one-off and recurring invoices, and made invoicing essentially “set and forget,” saving the founders time and letting Nusii focus on product growth and serving more agencies.
