Utilize Custom Workflows to Manage and Reduce Payer Denials

Biodesix, Inc., a diagnostic laboratory focused on personalized lung cancer care, faced frequent payer denials and post‑submission requests (prior authorizations, medical records) across a wide variety of denial codes that required customized responses. To streamline revenue cycle operations and better anticipate payer requests, Biodesix, Inc. partnered with Quadax in 2011 and outsourced billing to Quadax as its Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) vendor for claims management, denials and appeals, payer contract management, reimbursement management, and patient access solutions.

Quadax developed a custom database pulling payer information from over 800 payers and implemented tailored insurance follow‑up workflows that routed claims by payer groupings, ANSI responses, and no‑response worklists so denials could be sorted and addressed at the individual worklist level. The Quadax solution increased visibility and predictability, reduced time spent on insurance follow‑ups, and decreased denied claims by 3.5%, improving claims success and allowing Biodesix, Inc. to focus on its clinical mission.
