Training Doctors to Diagnose Heart Conditions with World's Most Accurate 3D Virtual Heart

HeartWorks, an ultrasound simulator developed by Glassworks and distributed by MedaPhor, needed a more flexible way to support product redesigns, multilingual requirements, and future UI changes. The team wanted a solution that could deliver high-quality, realistic interfaces for its virtual heart training system, and chose Qt for its UI and development framework.

Using Qt Quick Designer, Qt’s 3D rendering capabilities, and internationalization tools, HeartWorks rebuilt its UI in QML and separated the interface from the core application. Qt enabled UI changes that once took up to two days to be made in just 10–15 minutes, sped up implementation by three to four times, and delivered estimated savings of 10–20% through easier localization and maintenance.
