Sagem automates 30% of GUI testing with Qt

The customer, Sagem, needed to automate GUI testing for a complex Java Swing application running on an embedded Linux platform. Manually validating the numerous graphical interfaces was impossible, and their previous tool, HP's Quick Test Pro, was inflexible and could not adapt to frequent user interface changes. They turned to Qt's product, Squish, to find a solution that could increase test coverage.

Qt's solution, Squish for Java, provided a highly customizable and adaptable automated testing suite. It allowed the validation team leader to use data-driven testing with data tables and standard scripting tools to easily adjust scripts for UI changes without re-recording them. This resulted in the creation of approximately 300 test cases automating 30% of the application's functionality, saving a significant amount of time and greatly increasing test coverage.
