Medec’s Qt-Based Anesthesia & Critical Care Medical Devices Offer Superior User Experiences with Patient Safety in Focus

Medec Benelux, a medical device manufacturer with more than 40 years of experience, needed a modern, safety-critical user interface for its anesthesia and ventilator systems. As its ventilators became more advanced, Medec needed software that was intuitive, responsive, and compliant with strict medical regulations, while also supporting multiple operating systems for development and sales demos. Qt provided the UI technology used for the Puretouch touchscreen interface on Medec’s latest flagship device.

Using Qt Quick, QML, and Qt Professional Services, Medec built a fast, fluid, cross-platform UI with strong patient-safety features and IEC 62304 support. Qt engineers helped optimize performance through static linking and the Qt Quick compiler, and assisted with custom scenegraph integration and training. The result was a reliable, high-performance medical interface that improved development workflow, enabled code reuse across Linux, Mac OS, and Windows, and helped Medec deliver a superior user experience with patient safety in focus.
