AMD, the computing and graphics powerhouse, needed to dramatically improve the responsiveness and user experience of its Radeon control panel. To do that, AMD turned to Qt and used the Qt cross-platform application and UI development framework for Radeon Software Crimson Edition.

With Qt, AMD rebuilt Radeon Settings from the ground up using QML, Qt Quick, and Qt modules to create a modern, streamlined interface with faster startup and easier discoverability. The results were significant: the control panel launches in under 1 second on any system, and AMD reported startup performance that is 10x faster than the predecessor control panel, with measured load time dropping from 8 seconds to 0.6 seconds on test hardware.
