A Qt Case Study
M2I, a manufacturer and exporter of embedded operator interface panels and HMI systems for industrial and building automation, needed a way to develop both desktop and embedded applications for its TOP Series while keeping the virtual design interface and the real device interface identical. The company also wanted a more flexible, customizable GUI workflow for creating rich, multilingual automation interfaces across multiple platforms.
Using Qt’s cross-platform tools, libraries, Qt Thread, and Qt Container, M2I built the TOP Series with a single source code base for desktop and embedded devices, enabling fast design-data transfer and identical rendering across platforms. Qt helped simplify development, improve data processing, and make interface creation much easier; according to M2I, it cut development time by half or more and eliminated much of the manual work of capturing and converting fonts, characters, and images.
