GLP Systems, a Hamburg-based developer of modular automation systems for clinical laboratories, needed a way to improve analytic routing, shorten turnaround times, reduce errors, and connect to a wide range of instruments while keeping complexity and costs down. To build its single-tube transport and storage system with smart “cars,” GLP Systems turned to Qt, using its development framework and tools to support both UI and backend needs.

With Qt Quick, QML, Qt Core, Qt Network, Qt SQL, Qt Serial Bus, and Qt Creator profiling tools, GLP Systems was able to prototype faster, bring designers and developers closer together, and create a single code base that could be cross-compiled across devices. Qt also helped improve HMI performance and eliminate bottlenecks, and GLP Systems reported that Qt’s technical support significantly shortened time-to-market and saved substantial development time and manpower.
