Case Study: EM Microelectronic creates intuitive wearable and embedded UIs with Qt Group

The on-demand fusion of technologies for tailor-made solutions

EM Microelectronic, a semiconductor manufacturer and part of the Swatch Group specializing in ultra-low power integrated circuits for wearables, sought to create fluid and intuitive user interfaces for its resource-constrained devices. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Qt Group to leverage the Qt for MCUs framework, which is designed for microcontrollers with limited memory.

Qt Group provided the Qt for MCUs solution, which includes the Qt Quick Ultralite graphics engine for building rich UIs. This allowed EM Microelectronic to develop several high-performance demos, including a smartwatch, in just a few weeks. The results showcased a fluid user experience with a low memory footprint and instant boot, proving the framework's seamless integration and efficiency for their customized devices.
